Russia in the OSCE: it is necessary to observe the aggressor and not the victim

On 18 September the Permanent representative of the RF A. Azimov addressed the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on the topic “South Ossetia”.
A. Azimov made a special stress on the role of OSCE international observers in prevention the new military aggression from Georgia. “We consider it necessary the deployment of OSCE international observers in the regions of Georgia adjacent to South Ossetia as it was fixed in Document of 8 September. We note that it must be firmly put in the modalities of the work of the observers. It is obvious that one should observe the aggressor and not the victim to prevent new military adventures against neighboring states.
As for the observers that has the OSCE mandate to work on the territory of South Ossetia they can according to the Document of 8 September “further implement their mandate in the area of their responsibility in accordance with the strength and the plan of stationing as it was before 7 August, 2008 without detriment to the possible corrections in future on the decision of the OSCE Permanent Council”.
The whole work of the OSCE observers according to the Russian side must be coordinated with South Ossetia as the sovereign state.
And one principle moment insisted by the representative of Russia concerned the invitation of the representatives of the RSO to the OSCE meetings, connected with the discussion of the issues referring this state.
