European deputies were impressed by what they saw in South Ossetia

European deputies were impressed by what they saw in South Ossetia On 5 September the interanational parlaiamantary Delegation headed by the first vice-speaker of the State Duma of the RF Oleg Morozov and vice-speaker Alexsander Babakov arrived to South Ossetia.

The Delegation included the parliamentarians from Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia, the main editor of the French newspaper “The World Policy”, Elena Teplitskaya – the president of the American-Russian trade chamber.

The main purpose of their visit to the RSO was to get acquainted on the gruond with the consequenses of the military events of the beginning of August 2008.

European deputies were impressed by what they saw in South Ossetia The guests drove through the whole town, visited the cemetery at the yard of the Secondary school #5 destroyed by the Georgain tanks, saw the destroyed schools, the burnt University, totally destroyed and burnt “Jewish area” in Tskhinval. The residents of this district showed the parliamentarians the cellar under the former building of the Jewish cultural center where from Georgian mines and missiles more than 250 people were hiding - the younger was only two weeks. They told the parliamentarians that in the cellar there was a corpse of the man killed by the splinter and the wounded girl. They showed the bloody mattress whish was still there.

As the representative of Bulgaria Peter Canev said “it is necessary to invite to South Ossetia the Ambassadors of all countries of the EU so that they see themselves what had happened here”.

“Everyone saw the destroyed civilian objects, dwelling houses and schools. They saw the real results of the Georgian aggression and will report to their counterparts on the situation in South Ossetia which will help to correct the distorted information that dominates in Europe”, the first vice-speaker of the State Duma of the RF Oleg Morozov said.

“It is obvious that the destruction of peaceful objects indicates that the goal of the aggression was the extermination of the population living in South Ossetia. The destructions indicate that the firepower aimed at the town was previously planned to make it impossible the revival of normal life. Now it is clear that the decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the independence of South Ossetia was more than justified and timely”, the vice-speaker of the State Duma Alexander Babakov said to the journalists.
