Georgy Kharebov: Georgians want to exterminate Osset people

Marina Meodeva (young mother): We are still shocked. It was terrifying. We were at our relatives in Vladikavkaz. Just at that time we arrived in the town. We were so afraid…My son does not understand anything, he is only eighteen month old, he began to mumble something. We are so afraid the two last nights… They may open fire all of a sudden again. Everything would be fine, but we live in the micro-district TSARZ and the village Nikozi is just by. Now imagine what was happening. It cannot be described with words. Only those who felt it can understand us. People, cars were rushing about, we nearly bumped into another car. We phoned all our neighbors, relatives, we were afraid for them. It’s a pity that many people received injuries and a teenager died.
Georgy Kharebov, 76-year-old (veteran of pedagogical labor): It was madness. We have no time to recover form one event and again something new. It is extermination of a small nation. Georgians want to exterminate Osset people. Unless contacts of youth, mutual visits do not stop, such events will happen. Abkhazians ceased all contacts with Georgians and live much better. Our villages are located next to Georgian ones as a chess-board, anyone gets drunk and will shout. And then? How many people suffered in Stalin St., Alan Djioev St., Ostrovsky St., Gafez St., Mamsurov St. A youth died. For what? Isn’t he pitiful?! Our youth do not remember anything except war, there a lot of cripples and invalids…
Everybody remembers the last terrorist act in Okona. A young man, I saw him, is in iron peaces, he is blind on one eye, has no legs, several operations lie ahead though he was already been operated more than 10 times.
We must not trust anybody. We try to improve relations with Georgians and what… What is their response?! It was broadcast on Russian TV channels when Georgians said that they had been fired upon from Osset villages by peacekeepers, who will the viewer believe to? Georgians have more opportunities. And they “prove” everybody their version and they, Georgians, are trusted. We are small people, we are sorrounded all around, for many years we live in economic and informational blockade, roads are blocked… No one knows our truth, no one sees our pain. So Georgians exterminate us step by step.
I am a grandfather, I cannot see my grandchildren because every summer we have such incidents?..
Dmitry Koliev (resident of Tskhinval): During the firing there were several car accidents in our town; my friend Vladik broke his leg during one of them. Vladik was being put in stitches when his friends brought Alan Khodov, he was still conscious, spoke. On seeing Alan so blood-stained Vladik jumped off the operating table, if only they helped Alan. We stood there till morning while the operation finished. Doctors could saw all wounds. Yesterday was Trinity Sunday, in many Osset villages people celebrated that holiday, we even phoned our friends, relatives so as they prayed to the God, put out candles. We hoped that God will help, but alas…
